Welcome back to the World Wide Glen Blog (a.k.a. Welcome To My Thoughtmare).
For those of you who are new here, a little quick history is probably in order:
The World Wide Glen began life way back in 2006 on it’s old Blogspot address, as a place where I mused about everything from music to politics to religion, to pretty much whatever else was on my mind at any given time.
The long term plan, of course, was nothing less than world domination.
But more often than not — since many of our original posts were written in the foggy haze of a wee morning hours, post-last call state of mind — those original bloggings could take on a life of their own. The results were not always pretty, and more often than not also came back to bite me in the ass.
But there were also some unexpectedly good things that happened too.
Over the course of our original six years of existence, The World Wide Glen mused about everything from professional wrestling and UFOs, to the sort of stream of consciousness rants about the often chaotic state of my own personal life, that are only possible in the post closing time haze they were most often written.
Guilty as charged, there.
The only real rules I established for myself back then as publisher/editor in chief, and sole writer, blogger and all around head honcho in charge, was that I would write exactly whatever I was feeling at the time – and sort out the details later.
In spite of this admittedly wreckless and irresponsible approach, something really strange happened.
It actually started to catch on. Articles first published on The World Wide Glen were soon picked up on by sources ranging from Howard Stern to ABC World News Tonight, eventually leading to a long term gig writing for Blogcritics — where I ultimately became a music editor.
This in turn led to the publication of my first book Neil Young FAQ (Backbeat Books) earlier this year.
I’ve left out quite a bit of the story, but for the purposes of this re-introduction, let’s just call this the short version.
Earlier this year, and for reasons I won’t go into here (at least not yet). I shut down the old World Wide Glen blog on Blogspot — but always with the idea of re-launching it in a newer, better, and hopefully slightly (but not completely) more sober frame of mind.
That day is now.
I need a place like this. I’ve missed it a lot, and facebook aint’ it. Here, if I say something ridiculously stupid in the heat of that 3 AM moment, I can always take it down before a zillion people see it, and I end up losing my job or something.
It’s nice to be back home.
So The Glen Blog is back. You have been warned.
